Get Mulder and Scully on the phone!

Today I found out that I am not only special 'cos mom sent me to a special school (errr... no... not really) but also cos my anatomy is slightly different to most people's.

Yesterday, whilst practicing b-ball with the Salisbury team (who, by the way, invited me to play for them too! woo hoo!) I landed awkwardly on my right heel, hurting the heel tendons. It was, and still is, quite painful, so, fearing some kind of fracture, went to the hospital to get it looked at. I took 2 x-rays, after which, I turned green and started growing extra mutant arms and an extra eye in the middle of my forehead!! ... no... not really... Don't be silly... I was called in again for a 2nd set of x-rays, cos the nurse thought she spotted a broken bone on the completely opposite side to the pain.

Turns out that it was not a fracture just my unique... wait for it! wait for it!... gotta get this right and sound really intelligent (a technique I learned at the special school) ... right foot's 5th metatarsal! In other words, my right foot pinky's bone.

As you can see from the attached picture (which is not my foot, by the way, just an anonymous contribution from the world renown information centre, Google) the 5th metatarsal is supposed to be 1 "long" bone. Well, not for yours truly! In my right foot, the section that is circled is actually a totally separate independent bone!

Science says that an adult has a total of 206 bones in the body. Well, I have, at least, 207! Freaky, hey?

Now the question is... Does my left foot have the same feature? That could mean a grand total of 208 bones! ... I think I see a brand new X-files episode coming along: "X-tra boneman"! =)

Stay beautiful!

PS - FYI, The foot's gonna be fine... the cute doctor reckons it should be ok in a week and full recovery in 2! :)
